    Series 4: Includes cookbooks.
    Series 5: Photographs include silver gelatin black-and-white prints and color prints--especially captioned snapshots which document the family and friends of the Kushis. Albums contain photographs of Kushi Foundation events, students, staff, activities.
    Scope and Content: 
    Most of the materials document the 1970s-1980s, the Macrobiotic philosophies of Michio Kushi, and the philosophies of George Oshawa. Audio- and videotapes record lectures about macrobiotics.
    Divided into 7 series: Series 1, East West Foundation, 1966-1991, and undated; Series 2, Kushi Foundation, 1968-1999, and undated; Series 3, Kushi Institute, 1979-1999, and undated; Series 4, Michio Kushi Papers, 1981-1995 and undated; Series 5, General Publications, 1978-1996, and undated; Series 6, Other Macrobiotics Organizations and Publications, 1960-2006, and undated; Series 7, Photographs, 1964-1971, 1994, and undated.
    Collection donated to the SI by Michio and Aveline Kushi, August 1997; additional materials donated May 1999.
